I’m a current user signing in for the first time, what do I need to do?
If you are a current SecurityBenefit.com website user with an existing user name and password, you will not be required to create a new registration. If you have not signed into your account within the last year, simply complete the registration process to setup your online account.
- Sign in with your existing username and password.
- Once you’ve successfully signed in, you’ll be prompted to change your password.
- After you’ve established a new password you’ll be prompted to select additional security questions for your username and password recovery options.
- Next, you’ll be asked to set up notifications for verification codes for your account.
- The default option will send a verification code to the email address within your current profile.
- You may choose to establish other options to receive your verification code: sms text message, or a voice call to a phone number.
This extra layer of security ensures that you’re the only person who can access your account.
I’ve logged on before, but it says username and password doesn’t match what is on file?
You may choose the Forgot Username or Forgot Password options to recover your online account. If you have not signed into your account at least one time in the past year, simply complete the registration process to set up your online account.
Why am I being prompted to change my password?
As part of the redesign and revised navigation of the website, we are requiring to have each registered user establish a new password and update their online credentials (including validation of an existing email address) with us.
Can a current password be used if it meets all the new requirements?
No. All users will be required to establish a new password upon first sign in to SecurityBenefit.com.
What are the password requirements?
A password must contain at least eight (8) characters:
- at least 1 number
- at least 1 lowercase letter
- at least 1 uppercase letter
- and cannot contain part of your username
Why do I need to complete additional security questions?
We have included additional security questions to validate online access, and two-factor authentication to provide an enhanced level of security as confirmation when signing in to the site.
Will I have to enter a verification code every time I sign in?
No. You can click the checkbox to "Please remember me on this device" and you will not be required to enter a verification code each time you sign in. If you sign in computer to your account with a different device, you will be asked to complete the two-factor authentication process on that device.
How do I change how I will receive my verification code?
Simply navigate to SecurityBenefit.com, sign in with your user name and password, then go to "My Profile" in the top navigation bar to access the "Edit My Profile" selection in the dropdown menu to make changes to how you receive a verification code. You can choose between an email, a text message to your cell phone, or a voice call to any working phone number you choose.
What if the email address listed on my account is wrong? How do I get my verification code?
We make every effort in the registration set up process to have you confirm your information before it is securely stored for use. Should you inadvertently enter your email address incorrectly, or you need to change it, simply call our Service Center 800.888.2461, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. (Eastern Time), Monday through Friday, to have your email address updated and a new verification code sent to you. If you need to update your email address, you will need to follow standard security verification including:
- Your name
- Contract number
- Last 4 digits of your Social Security Number
- Date of birth
How do I change my information for my online account?
Simply navigate to SecurityBenefit.com, sign in using your user name and password, then go to "My Profile" in the top navigation bar to access the "Edit My Profile" selection in the dropdown menu and make changes. Please note that any changes made to the profile on SecurityBenefit.com only affects the profile information on the site and does not affect financial account information.
If I change my online account information, will it update my financial account information at Security Benefit?
No. To make changes to your account, please contact your sales representative or call 800.747.5164, option 3, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. (Eastern Time), Monday through Friday.
